"Christmas Rarities", a pictorial reference book on rare, antique, German Glass Christmas Ornaments by the author, John Lightner
Hi all,
Well, since my book is sold out (one left) I have started up a Facebook group called, "Christmas Rarities Ornaments" and have begun to list the 1500 photos from my book in it.
It will be a great place to view super rare antique German glass Ornaments. Feel free to post your rare ornaments there as well.

Please note that Tony Johnson who lives in Charleston SC has stolen about 20 books of mine as well as 15K worth of antique Christmas ornaments and is trying to sell them on Ebay. He is also selling fake Kugels on Ebay.
Please do not buy any books from him. You can read the whole story here: https://tonyjohnsonofcharlestonisathief.blogspot.com/
John Lightner's "Christmas Rarities" Book was published in 2007. There are 256 pages with over 1500 high quality photographs printed on archival glossy enamel paper with a hard cover and stitched binding.
This four year project took John to 40 major collectors in twelve states and European trips to German, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium.
The front and back covers are a collage of some of the rarest ornaments in the world. Each ornament has a reference number, a description, a rarity scale and a value scale.
Each photo has been given a reference number, a description, a rarity scale and a value scale.
I used four numbers for the rarity scale:
"1" means that in all the collections I photographed I only saw one
"2" means that I saw three or fewer
"3" means that I saw six or fewer
"4" means that I saw more than six
There are 527 ornaments with a "1" rating, 612 with a "2" rating, 210 with a "3" rating and 114 with a "4" rating. Over 500 ornaments have never been published anywhere.

This is a must have reference book for any serious collector. It has been shown on Good Morning America and dozens of articles have been published in many newspapers both in America and Europe including the New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, Currier Newspaper, The Daily Herald, The Maine Antique Digest and others.
In December of 2014 I was asked to do an exhibit in Hong Kong at one of the largest malls there. It was quite the event.
This book is still the only one of its kind ever published and is used by many auction houses and insurance companies as the go to reference book on rare antique ornaments.r.
The following photos are the first pages of each category.
